IGGY AND THE STOOGES - Raw Power Live: In the Hands of the Fans

Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power Live: In the Hands of the Fans

Facts can’t be disputed. THE STOOGES are one of the most influential, and great bands of all time and their third album, Raw Power, released in ‘73, is absolutely mandatory.

Fast forward to September 3, 2010 at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in England. The 2010 incarnation of THE STOOGES, composed of Iggy Pop, Scott Asheton, James Williamson, Steve Mackay, and Mike Watt, busted out the entire Raw Power album for those in attendance. Fortunately, for those of us not in attendance, MVD Entertainment Group has released a live recording of that very special day.

The band do not play the album in its recorded tracklisting order. However, that does not detract how great it sounds. Performance wise, the band are in fine form. Sonically, every instrument is audibly crystal clear. You’ll feel like you’re in the photo pit.

It’s easy to imagine how wild and crazy Iggy Pop is running, crawling, and jumping around the stage all the while doing a great job singing. He may have been 63 at the time of the show but his legendary charisma and talent shine through on this recording.

While Raw Power Live: In the Hands of the Fans may not necessarily be a mandatory addition to your collection, it is certainly a welcome release that helps pump life into THE STOOGES’ lifespan and legacy. (MVD Entertainment Group)
