Texas-based mythological occult metal band ABSU have posted the song “Girra’s Temple” from their self-titled new album due in stores February 24. The song offers fans the first listen to material on the anxiously awaited new album that features an all-star array of guest musicians. Bring your browser to www.myspace.com/ABSU.
ABSU is the first new recording from the trio since their highly acclaimed album Tara released in 2001. Produced by the band with mixing assistance from J.T. Longoria, the album features artwork from Belgian artist Kris Verwimp. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says of the album’s lyrical concepts, “I am concentrating more on Sumerian-based occult themes of magick and mythology versus the Celtic aspect of my previous writings, which was heavily expressed on the last few ABSU studio albums. Musically speaking, the material will be quite similar to Tara, but with more of a ’70s progressive/psychedelic texture within it.”
ABSU came to international prominence with the release of their debut, Barathrum: VITRIOL in 1992. Originally released via Gothic Records, the label later licensed the record to France’s Osmose Productions. ABSU would establish a solid relationship with the label and thus release all later recordings via the renowned independent. In 2007 the band would announce a new partnership with London-based Candlelight Records.
Candlelight Records has confirmed October 3rd as the US release date of MoRT, the eagerly anticipated new album from French extremists, BLUT AUS NORD. The album adds to the band’s trilogy of albums and growing stateside sales and fanbase.
Introduced to US audiences via their early 2004 Candlelight debut, The Work Which Transforms God, and 2005 issue of their previously unavailable catalog, Memoria Vestusta and Ultima Thulee.
With MoRT, BLUT AUS NORD have crafted an album that is complex, haunting and sure to draw the band continued fan and media applause. A singular composition consisting of eight united chapters, MoRT contains the gruesome soundtrack that has quickly become the trio’s acclaimed hallmark. Nearly two years in the making, the album incorporates uniquely innovative guitar play, a corrosive rhythm section and bitter vocals.
