Punk Legends D.O.A. Calling it Quits; Final Shows Announced

D.O.A.After 35 years and 14 studio albums,  D.O.A. have announced that they are disbanding this year and a set of farewell shows.  Guitarist/vocalist Joey “Shithead” Keithley embarks on a political career seeking the New Democratic Party (NDP) nomination in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

Punk and politics are historically linked and D.O.A. have always worn their politics on their sleeves. Their blatant slogan, “TALK-ACTION=0,” sums it all up. D.O.A. have played benefits for Rape Relief, Anti-Racism, Education, Anti-Globalization, Anti-War, OXFAM, First Nations Rights, Anti-Censorship and environmental causes amongst many others. “I’ve been working on trying to change Canada and this world into a better place from outside the system for the last 35 years,” reflects Keithley, “now I will do my utmost to effect that change from inside the system. That’s why I am running for the only progressive party, the NDP”

Celebrating 35 years and their 14th studio album We Come in Peace, fans will be treated to 2 hours of D.O.A. songs old and new. Watch for special appearances from many ex-band members at the final Vancouver shows on January 18th and 19th at The Rickshaw.

Ex-D.O.A., BLACK FLAG, DANZIG Drummer Chuck Biscuits’ Death a Hoax

Despite numerous reports of his death, D.O.A.‘s Joe Keithley has dispelled rumors that famed drummer Chuck Biscuits (ex-D.O.A., BLACK FLAG, MISFITS, DANZIG) has recently passed away.

“He’s well and alive, so that’s good news,” said Keithley.

According to the Canadian Press, the reports seem to have originated from a single blog post written by New York freelance writer James Greene Jr., who has since claimed that he was duped by an anonymous emailer.
