SCAR SYMMETRY Added to HYPOCRISY U.S. Tour

Swedish melodic death metallers, SCAR SYMMETRY, have been added to the “A Taste of Extreme Divinity” Tour as direct support to headliners HYPOCRISY. Guitarist Per Nilsson commented:

“Touring the US with our buddies HYPOCRISY, are you f***ing kidding me?! We’d better make reservations at the Betty Ford clinic! Man, is this going to be a party or what?! We haven’t toured North America since 2007, which makes for two albums worth of music never performed live over there. Many thanks to HYPOCRISY for inviting us!”

HYPOCRISY – A Taste of Extreme Divinity

In between touring, working on his other project, PAIN, and his producing duties, HYPOCRISY mainman Peter Tagtgren has introduced A Taste of Extreme Divinity to the world, and it is a throwback to the ole’ death metal days. Everything has some old school feel to it, from Peter’s old death metal style, to the old HYPOCRISY logo on the special edition disc, and the cover art by Kristian Wahlin (aka Necrolord).

Valley of the Damned” starts the album exactly where Virus left off, and Peter executes more of his death metal vocals on the entire disc instead of the screeching eagle screams he has incorporated in the later HYPOCRISY albums. “Hang Him High” continues the journey of catchy songs with The Fourth Dimension-style solos thrown in. These songs allow the listener to appreciate the great songwriting the band has achieved, as “Solar Empire” delivers a catchy “grunt-a-long” chorus. Blastmaster Horgh finally gets to show off his machine gun-like precision on “Weed out the Weak” before the band goes into another catchy and melodic masterpiece. The album wanes a bit towards the middle but finishes strong as “The Quest” is reminiscent of songs from the self-titled album, with lush keyboards, melodic solos, and the mid-paced feel that HYPOCRISY was known for. “Sky is Falling Down” is a perfect closer to this album, filled with a brutal beginning, melodic main verse, and a decrescendo leaving the listener yearning for more.

HYPOCRISY experimented a little with the nü-metal sound on the dreaded Catch-22 album, but A Taste of Extreme Divinity fuses the old HYPOCRISY style with the newer, more melodic efforts; the result is a combination of enjoyable death metal without resorting to gimmicks or over-technical guitar wankery. This trio is stronger than ever and gives old death metal fans something to look forward to in the live setting. (Nuclear Blast Records)

HYPOCRISY Cancel North American Tour

HYPOCRISY have been forced to cancel their North American tour with ENSIFERUM due to troubles with U.S. immigration. Here’s a statement from the band:

“We regretfully have to officially announce the cancelation of our tour in North America. We’ve tried everything so far and it seems like the process will take longer than expected for one of the members in the band. We will try to come back as soon as possible, as we want to show our U.S. fans that we care for them and we are ready to play the new songs live!”

Previously HYPOCRISY had been in holding mode, fully expecting to join the tour that was already in progress at a later date. In an earlier statement the band explained their situation:

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to stay home until U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services process and authorize our working visas. This is the first time the band has faced a situation like this and it’s extremely frustrating, as well as depressing, since the last thing we want to do is disappoint our loyal fans who have waited years to see us live in the U.S. We filed for our visas with plenty of time, but as some probably don’t know, the U.S. government has changed its rules when it comes to visas issued to artists so it’s become tougher. Even if we have already toured the U.S. numerous times.”

CHILDREN OF BODOM Guitarist to Tour with HYPOCRISY

HYPOCRISY have enlisted the help of CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/frontman Alexi Laiho for their upcoming North American tour. Alexi has agreed to temporarily fill the currently vacant guitarist spot on their tour alongside ENSIFERUM, EX DEO, BLACKGUARD, and SWASHBUCKLE. HYPOCRISY mainman Peter Tägtgren commented:

“We’re very happy to bring Alexi along on this tour and that he’s helping us out with filling the 2nd guitarist position. Funny, the first CHILDREN OF BODOM show was a support gig for HYPOCRISY on the Nuclear Blast festival in ‘98. Since then me and Alexi have become very good friends. I’ve helped him with producing and he’s helped me by contributing a guitar solo on one of my records with my other band PAIN. There will be no shortage of alcohol on this tour that’s for sure.”

HYPOCRISY’s New Album, A Taste of Extreme Divinity, out November 3rd

Sweden’s HYPOCRISY have set A Taste of Extreme Divinity as the title of their new album, due November 3rd in North America (and October 23rd in Europe). The album features artwork by Necrolord, known for his classic album covers for DISSECTION, EMPEROR, AT THE GATES, more.

Mainman Peter Tägtgren commented on the new album: “I’m at the end of the recording and mixing; a few songs left to sing on. The rest are done mixing-wise. It’s just been too busy with touring and recording bands, and I didn’t wanna burn myself out totally. We’re happy [with] the result so far; it’s got everything a HYPO album should have in our own point of view.”

SUFFOCATION Suffer Set Backs For The Machines at War Tour

Due to problems in acquiring proper transportation for SUFFOCATION‘s upcoming trek with FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, and DECAPITATED as part of The Machines at War Tour, the band has been forced to fly to California without their equipment and merchandise for the start of the tour. Here’s word directly from the band’s website:

SUFFOCATION‘s 7 week tour with FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, and DECAPITATED set to start on the 22nd of October has been jeopardized due to Fraudulent Bus companies. The story goes like this in this exact order of circumstances. 4 months ago we Locked in tour bus arrangements with ROCKSTAR TOURBUS LEASING to drive SUFFOCATION and HYPOCRISY on the US tour. 3 days before the tour was to begin, the bus company pulled out leaving us to scramble with no replacement. In a panic we called multiple bus companies to save the day, one of which was a company called CONCERT COACH & GEAR owned by GARY KOPPELMAN out of Philadelphia. Because it was last minute we were instructed to pay half of the cost upfront which we did, close to $20,000. The bus never showed up, GARY KOPPELMAN and CONCERT COACH never contacted us back, and all numbers leading to him now get us no where. We’ve had no contact since the bank wire was sent. So far the first 3 shows in Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado have been cancelled. We are now working on flying to California with just the clothes on our backs to hopefully be able to start the tour as planned w/ FEAR FACTORY and the gang. Needless to say without our equipment, Merchandise and transportation we will be scrambling at best. If anyone has ever dealt with GARY KOPPELMAN and CONCERT COACH & GEAR, Feel free to contact us at [email protected] so we can build a case and BRING THE PAIN to this fool. Thanks, take care and have a better day than we’ve had.”
