LORDI – The Arockalypse

Dressed like GWAR, but equipped with massive balls-to-the-wall rock ‘n roll, Finland’s LORDI claim to bring those very “balls” back to rock. “Bringing Back the Balls to Rock,” off LORDI‘s latest album, The Arockalypse, makes that claim both lyrically and musically with big riffs, big beats, and a big chorus. Fortunately, rock has never actually lost its balls, but these monsters of rock certainly rock out as if rock has long been without said balls…all while keeping it fun and un-serious. In fact, it’s that very attitude that makes The Arockalypse an enjoyable affair. With cheeky songs like “Who’s Your Daddy?,” “Good to Be Bad,” and “Hard Rock Hallelujah,” you know you’re in for a fun ride. The Finns recall 70′s and 80′s hard rock (think KISS, Alice Cooper) with minimal amounts of cheese, but plenty of nostalgia. They even enlist some hard rock veterans (Dee Snider, Udo Dirkschneider, Bruce Kulick, and Jay Jay French) to join their monster mashing affair. The Arockalypse rocks…just don’t take LORDI too seriously. (The End Records)

LORDI Ready to Invade U.S. with Headlining Dates and Ozzfest 2007

Finland’s monster rock n’ roll band, LORDI, have been selected as one of the mainstage acts for Ozzfest 2007, alongside mainstage headliners, OZZY OSBOURNE and LAMB OF GOD.

The band – who released a special 2CD/DVD version of The Arockalypse (with bonus tracks/videos) this week via The End Records – are excited to be on this much-anticipated annual tour across North America, referred to this year as “FreeFest” because all tickets to the event are free.

“It is a great honour for us to be on Ozzfest and obviously it is gonna be a great opportunity for us to show the people in the U.S. what we can do…or what they think we can do. [laughs],” comments Mr. Lordi about the opening slot on the mainstage that starts July 12th, 2007 in Seattle, WA. “My best friend is a huge Ozzy fan he’s really jealous of the whole thing. I’m gonna try and remember to pick him up an Ozzfest t-shirt when we return to Finland. For us the idea of playing Ozzfest is still hard to believe. I’ll believe it when we’re there.”

Confirmed bands performing on the second stage includes HATEBREED (second stage headliner), MONDO GENERATOR, ANKLA, CIRCUS DIABLO and NILE.

LORDI Frontman Comments on Upcoming North American Release

Finnish monster hard rock act LORDI have experienced massive amounts of success in Europe over the last year and frontman Mr. Lordi knows the task involved in making The Arockalypse a success in North America when it is released on March 20th, 2007 on The End Records.

“It is like a 2-sided coin because you don’t know what is going to happen. We have to start from zero over there,” comments the gargantuan monster frontman about trying to achieve the same success in North America. “It is going to be interesting, kind of a challenge for us but then again it is great for us to be humble again. We want to see how the success for us works over there or not. You can never tell which way things will go but we’re excited nonetheless.”

“I feel great,” he says about the upcoming release which contains bonus tracks and a DVD. “I’ve been telling journalists over the years that we are a Finnish band heavily influenced by American bands. All the musical influences come from the States and it feels great that the album will finally be coming out over there.”

LORDI are currently planning their first ever jaunt of North America this spring and are confirmed for a two night stint at the annual Bamboozle Festival this May. For more info check: http://www.thebamboozle.com/
