Nader Sadek - Living FleshOne of the coolest death metal debut albums in recent years, gets the live treatment with Living Flesh.  Band mastermind Nader Sadek gathered together his core recording line up of Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID ANGEL), Rune Eriksen (AVA INFERI, ex-MAYHEM), and Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) along with Novy (ex-VADER, BEHEMOTH, DIES IRAE), Sean Frey, and Carmen Simoes.   Do not mistake this for being just another live recording.  Living Flesh is a special CD & DVD/Blu-ray live recording with a presentation and execution unlike any other live metal album.

Visually, Nader Sadek did a great job in creating a unique, artistic stage set up, complete with a throne, emaciated branches over the monitors, and Flo Mounier‘s drumkit in the audience facing the stage.

Soundwise, the production is immaculate.  Warm tones, crystal clear drums, and great balance bring the performance to life.  The whole band is on top of the game and one just help but wonder what this line-up could do on another NADER SADEK studio album.  Lead guitarist Sean Frey does a great job in shredding every which way throughout the set.

Taken all the together, the eerie, melancholic, and slithering death metal of NADER SADEK comes to life and sounds infinitely better than In the Flesh.  In many ways, Living Flesh demonstrates that NADER SADEK embodies what makes death metal so unique and special.  Don’t miss out on one of the best new bands to emerge in years.  Highly recommended. NADER SADEK “Mayhem” Art Exhibit Now Open in Philadelphia

Nader SadekFamed artist and visual effects director and driving force behind the all-star death metal project that bears his name, NADER SADEK is being featured as part of a group exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia.

The exhibit, which runs from February 6th until July 28th, 2013, will feature masks worn by Attila Cshiar during his performances with SUNN O))) and MAYHEM. The masks where designed and fabricated  by NADER SADEK in his NYC studio in 2007. MAYHEM then commissioned SADEK to make their stage set for their US shows in 2009, for which he sculpted a flesh and bone style version of  the band’s original logo.

NADER SADEK’s Debut Live Performance, Living Flesh, Hits February 2013

Nader Sadek - Living FleshLiving Flesh, the first ever live performance from NADER SADEK‘s critically acclaimed In the Flesh project will be self-released on February 27th.  The November 20, 2011 show featured the original line-up of musicians from the In the Flesh record, as well as two new performers. The original line-up consisted of Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY); Rune Eriksen (AURA NOIR, AVA INFERI, ex-MAYHEM); Novy (ex-BEHEMOTH and ex-VADER); and Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID ANGEL in his first and last live appearance for this project. Those greats are joined by Sean Frey as guest live guitarist and Carmen Simoes on backing vocals.

Living Flesh also brings you photos of that evening, demonstrating why NADER SADEK has been a favorite set-designer for the likes of SUNN O))) and MAYHEM.

The songs themselves differ from the original studio album arrangements. Not only are they played at a much higher speed, but have been extended to allow the audience to sink into and absorb the relentless riffs. The live show also features one track that does not appear on the studio album: Flo Mounier‘s extraordinary drum solo that shifts from brutal mechanical noise to rhythmic musical patterns, paralleling the overlap of man and machine charted by Sadek‘s petroleum-based project. Living Flesh will also be released in a single, unique vinyl edition. Consisting of a very special packaging and extra content, this piece is limited to one exclusive copy worldwide. Details to be announced.

WARFATHER: Ex-MORBID ANGEL Frontman Steve Tucker Forms New Death Metal Band

Greyhaze Records is proud to announce the formation and signing of brand new death metal act WARFATHER, a new unit conceived by ex-MORBID ANGEL frontman Steve Tucker.

In a statement on what metal fans are to expect from WARFATHER, Tucker stated: “This is my new band; it will be my main focus…. it is my kind of death metal.” Having been known for his vocal and bass skills in all of his previous acts, while still holding down vocal duties here, Tucker has moved on to guitar with this project. “I have always played the guitar and I think now is the time for me to make the move. I think doing solos and extra guitar parts will allow me to express myself in a whole new way!” Also on guitars is Armatura, formerly of Cincinnati-based death metal band DOMINION. Recruited to the drum kit is Deimos, a death metal veteran currently playing in the band TEMPLE and also having played with bands such as SEVERE TORTURE. The bass is dispatched by Nick McMaster (KRALLICE, NADER SADEK, CASTEVET). Additional guitar contributions will be tracked by friends of WARFATHER, which include many notable death metal stalwarts; full details will be announced shortly.

WARFATHER are currently in the final stages of tracking the yet-to-be-titled album, with mixing to take place immediately after. Tucker himself is producing the entire release, as he did for the 2011-released NADER SADEK album In the Flesh, which Tucker also performed on. The artwork is in the final stages as well, and will be unveiled shortly, along with the details on the album, which is being slated for release this Fall.

APESHIT’s Top Metal Albums of 2011

2011 was a very productive and enjoyable year for extreme music, perhaps the best in years. Thus, it was not an easy task choosing what we enjoyed best since they were just so many. 2011 also gave us unforgettably bad albums by LOU REED and METALLICA, flops by THE HAUNTED as well as controversial ones by MORBID ANGEL.

We look forward to another strong year in 2012 in which we will celebrate our 10 years online. Cheers for all of your support in 2011! Radikult!!

Allstar Project NADER SADEK Announced First Live Show

NADER SADEK, the supergroup featuring Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID ANGEL), Rune Eriksen (AVA INFERI, AURA NOIR, ex-MAYHEM), and Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) have announced their first live appearance. The band will be performing their debut, In the Living Flesh, on November 20th, 2011 (8:30pm – 10:00pm) at Santos Party House (96 Lafayette St. New York, NY). Admission is free.

Novy (ex-VADER/ex-BEHEMOTH) will be playing bass as well as newcomer Sean Frey on lead guitar and a surprise female vocalist.

With stage design that resembles a Wagnerian Opera, band mastermind Nader Sadek seeks to take the death metal experience to new heights, as he is set to perform the new album In the Living Flesh live in its entirety alongside the production team behind the album. Upon entering the space, the audience is invited to view all of Sadek’s works on and off the stage, each attendee will be given “pamphlet” describing the evenings 3 acts. People can expect more than several props which are recognizable from Sadek‘s recent videos, such as glowing sulfuric crystals, caves, thrones, and a “elaborate setup for the drums.” The show will feature a lengthy overture by a masked surprise female vocalist performing inside a mirrored cube, guitarists enveloped by a web of vines and more. Conceptually, the theme behind the album, will manifest itself in the live setting, petroleum, man’s greatest discovery and tragedy will embrace the composition of the visual and aural assault. The performance will also be filmed live.

On Novy‘s involvement, Sadek says:

“What can i say? Of all the bands Novy has played in, the albums he is on are undisputedly my favorite. Coincidence? I think not. Bass is a very underrated, yet very important instrument, it can change the feel of a song entirely. It is definitely an important factor that Novy is also a songwriter, and understand the importance of composition within the structure of a song. His compositions within DIES IRAE are very impressive. I’m excitedly to welcome Novy to the flesh!”

NADER SADEK – In the Flesh

Avant-garde artist Nader Sadek has brought his project to life with a supergroup of metal warriors respected in the underground scene. By recruiting Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID ANGEL), Rune Eriksen (AVA INFERI, ex-MAYHEM), and Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) as the core of the band, this brutal album coincides with his art and vision. While the project is called “NADER SADEK,” Sadek himself is the mastermind and “director” while the musicians bring In the Flesh to life.

The eerie intro features the maniacal sounds of MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar, and leads directly into the brutalizing track, “Petrophilia.” The track pounds away with the masterful blasting and double bass magic of Mounier, and some of the riffs are quite reminiscent of MAYHEM’s Ordo Ad Chao. Tracks like “Soulless” are largely death metal influenced, with huge hints of CRYPTOPSY found within them, and guest shredder Destructhor (MORBID ANGEL) provides some ZYKLON-esque leads to balance out the culmination of thrashy black/death metal riffs.

“Mechanic Idolatry” is catchy, brutal, and utilizes the skills of all the musicians involved. Tucker’s vocals never sounded better, and Mounier attacks the drum kit with a barrage of continuous double bass and flashy cymbal hits. While all of the songs on In the Flesh are excellent, “Sulffer” is one of the best tracks, and some riffs sound lifted from MAYHEM’s Chimera album. There’s no better track to end an album such as “Nigredo in Necromance,” with a crescendo leading up to a monstrous riff and solo, and finally crashing down to a melodic end. The album is short, with six real tracks, and three artistic tracks that break up the brutality, and the listener will yearn for more.

In the Flesh is an amazing mish mash of the disharmonic riffs from MAYHEM, the brutality of MORBID ANGEL, and the complex speed and intricate drumming of CRYPTOPSY. Forget the atrocities of CRYPTOPSY’s The Unspoken King or MORBID ANGEL’s Illud Divinum Insanus, and feed your ears with this album instead. The artwork and packaging of the CD also illustrates how Sadek went through great lengths to produce an amazing product. There is no doubt that In the Flesh will end up as one of the top albums of 2011 in many polls at the end of the year. (Season of Mist)
