AMORPHIS Singer Quits; Touring Plans Won't Change

AMORPHIS singer, Pasi Koskinen, has announced his departure from the band after nine years as their frontman. Koskinen’s final appearance with the band will be at the Kontu Rock festival on August 21st. The band will not alter any touring plans and are seeking a replacement immediately.

AMORPHIS will, in fact, be touring the US with TYPE O NEGATIVE this fall. It will be their first tour in the US since they released Tuonela in 1999. Confirmed dates are as follows:

Oct. 12 - Crocodile Rock - Allentown, PA
Oct. 15 - Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia, PA
Oct. 30 - Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee, WI

In other news, the band’s most recent album, Far From the Sun, will finally see an official North and South American release on September 7th via Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be packaged as a special version with three bonus songs, including an acoustic version of the title track, “Far From The Sun”.

Koskinen, on the other hand, will be releasing the third album from his black metal project, AJATTARA, entitled Tyhjyys. The album, which tranlates to Emptiness, will receive a November 11 release through Spinefarm Records.
