Fort Worth’s Star Telegram is reporting that there will be a public memorial service for the late “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. It will be conducted Tuesday night (December 14, 2004) at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way, Arlington, Texas. The event will have 750-person VIP section with folding chairs, separated from the public by barriers, in the Arlington Convention Center‘s 30,000-square-foot Grand Hall. There will be enough space for thousands of public mourners to attend.
Off-duty Arlington police officers will provide tight security during the memorial and metal detectors will be used to screen visitors. Videos are currently being edited and live performances have not been ruled out. The event is being produced by AEG Live, a promotion company that also runs Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie.
