Southern Lord To Reissue ST. VITUS Classic; Announce New Signings

July 13, 2004

Southern Lord will be re-releasing ST. VITUS’ doom-metal classic, V. The album features the classic doom anthem, “I Bleed Black,” and the mid-tempo stomp of the often covered, “Angry Man.” The reissue will also include a bonus video of Wino’s very first show with the band in its entirety. The LP version packaging has been described as “stunning and adheres to the strict vinyl-quality Southern Lord releases are known for.” It is limited to 1,000 copies.

In other news, Southern Lord has announced the signings of LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR and ORCUSTUS. Featuring members of 7,000 DYING RATS and PELICAN, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR combines a mixture of old-school metal (VENOM, CELTIC FROST, SLAYER) and newer aggression (HIGH ON FIRE). Their debut album, Carnage, will be released in September 2004.

ORCUSTUS is described as “primitive, raw and evil black metal” featuring Tormentor (ex-GORGOROTH), Infernus (GORGOROTH), Dirge Rep (ENSLAVED), and vocalist Taipan. After selling out their debut recordings on a 7" within a month, Southern Lord will release their next two albums. Their first album will be released next year.
