THE MARS VOLTA Recording Full-Length Debut with Rick Rubin

The more ambitious AT THE DRIVE-IN offshoot band, THE MARS VOLTA, will have a full-length album tentatively scheduled for an April 29th release on Universal Music. They are currently holed up in the studio with Rick Rubin producing the effort. The as-yet-untitled album will likely include contributions from Flea of the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and will be preceeded by a three week European tour supported the aforementioned RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS beginning March 5th.

The eclectic outfit (featuring AT THE DRIVE-IN alums, Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodrigues) previously released a three-song EP entitled Tremulant on Gold Standard Labs.
