VOIVOD – D-V-O-D-1

Anyone with any serious inclination for this great genre of music that we call “heavy metal” knows that VOIVOD have always been and will always be one of the greats. The band’s first DVD release, D-V-O-D-1, serves as a dream come true for fans of the original line-up of Snake, Piggy (RIP), Blacky, and Away that took the scene by storm from 1983-1991. The isn’t some half-assed DVD that will further promote your taste aversion for metal DVDs. Instead, D-V-O-D-1 packs in tons of valuable, enjoyable material: all the music videos, behind the scenes footage of the making of the music videos, studio recording sessions, assorted live performances from various Montreal shows, artwork, band photos, and the Iron Gang demos. The live shows have excellent sound and video quality as does the entire DVD. Watching all of this footage is truly awesome as it feels like you’re being transported back into the past and you’re able to witness VOIVOD as if you were there. D-V-O-D-1 also captures that indomitable heavy metal spirit as well as the young and creative brilliance that really set these guys apart from everyone else in the metal world. This release marks only the first of three DVDs that will be released covering each of the band’s three line-ups. For VOIVOD fans, D-V-O-D-1 is a mandatory purchase. For new metal fans, this serves as an audio/video education on essential metal. (Music Video Distributors)
