NEURAXIS Prepares for Upcoming Tours

Montreal technical death metallers NEURAXIS are currently prepping for back-to-back tours. First up is the “Montreal Assault” tour, which will see the band play alongside DESPISED ICON, CARNIFEX, THE PLASMARIFLE and labelmates BENEATH THE MASSACRE.

“I’m looking forward to the Montreal Assault tour, mainly since we have been friends with almost all the bands for so many years now,” says guitarist Rob Milley. “Some may know that Alex (Erian, DESPISED ICON vocalist) was once our drummer, and Maynard (Moore, THE PLASMARIFLE vocalist) was once our vocalist, so for me it’s like coming full-circle touring with these guys. BENEATH THE MASSACRE have always been close with us and I’m looking forward to meeting the dudes in CARNIFEX. Come out to this tour and have a good time with all of us.”

Montreal Assault” will be quickly followed by a tour alongside the legendary CANNIBAL CORPSE. NEURAXIS says they’re honored to have been hand-picked as support.

“To have the privilege to tour with such legends is truly an honor,” says vocalist Alex Leblanc. “I’ve been listening to CANNIBAL CORPSE forever, and I just can’t wait to tear it up every night and share the stage with these icons.”

DESPISED ICON Announce DVD Release Details; Post New Live Track Online

Montreal’s DESPISED ICON will be serving up their first DVD offering, Montreal Assault Live, which is set for a Jan. 27th release. The DVD features a multi-camera shoot from the band’s sold-out hometown show, alongside a new hour long documentary and all of the band’s promotional video clips. Check out to check out the live version of the track “The Ills of Modern Man” and to view the DVD’s cover artwork.

Alex Erian (vocals) further comments: “The Montreal Assault Live DVD is finally complete! The live mix sounds so massive. It was done by none other than our former guitarist Yannick St-Amand. You can even listen to it in 5.1 Surround. Our buddy Felix also created some of his sickest artwork yet. The shooting and editing of the show went awesome. David Brodsky (IN THIS MOMENT, UNEARTH) and his team captured tons of adrenaline packed moments. On Jan. 27th, you’ll be able to relive the live action, the stage dives, the circle pits, the kicking and the screaming that made this Montreal Assault hometown show a night to remember.

“The DVD also includes a new hour long documentary by Reconstructed Media that retraces the band’s career, showing never before seen footage of us living on the road, hanging out, partying, recording, playing shows back in the day and more. We’ll also post a live clip from the show soon. In the meantime, take a look at the Montreal Assault pictures and new live track that we just posted on our page.”

Alex Erian (vocals) states: “Our last U.S. run with THE RED CHORD, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, ALL SMALL PENIS and SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY was probably our favourite tour ever. Cheers again to all the bands and to everyone that showed up, hung out and made that tour so memorable for us. We released our new record during that tour so I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who picked it up and showed interest in our new shit. Looks like we won’t be spending much time at home over the next few months because we have two amazing tours lined up. We’ll be hitting mostly cities we haven’t played this year. DESPISED ICON Recording Update; Tour with JOB FOR A COWBOY

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON are currently in the midst of recording their highly anticipated sophomore Century Media release with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand. The new effort will be mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap starting on Feb. 10th and is currently scheduled for a May release. The group will also kick off a three-week Canadian/U.S. tour as direct support to JOB FOR A COWBOY on Feb. 28th before heading to Europe in March with UNEARTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY and DAATH.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: “We’ve been in the studio for about two weeks now. The drums were recorded with a click track/metronome and the result is tight as fuck. Some of the parts on this record are faster then anything we’ve done in the past. Alex‘s drumkit sounds amazing. Expect more blastbeats and gravity blasts! We’ve drilled holes in our heads and came up with loads of inventive breakdowns for you mosh enthusiasts. I know this is the type of stuff that all bands say, but trust me, it’s true and you won’t be disappointed.

“The guitars are about halfway done, and we can’t wait to see how killer things will sound once Andy Sneap starts mixing. He made some of the best sounding recordings out there, so we’re definitely stoked to be working with him. Don Clark from Invisible Creature is currently working on our album layout. He handled the art direction on NORMA JEAN‘s last two albums, so you know it’s going to look sick. We’ve worked twice as hard on this record and are very pleased with how it’s coming along.

“Also, a thanks goes out to all of those who have tried out/shown interest for the guitarist spot. We’ve just picked the top three candidates and will invite them over to Montreal to jam and hang out with us as soon as we come back from the studio. Future plans include the shooting of our new video with DBM Films in February, with a Canadian/U.S. and European tour in March/April. We’re stoked to finally tour Europe and can’t wait to play in our country again!”

ION DISSONANCE Announces New Vocalist

Montreal’s ION DISSONANCE has found their new vocalist, in replacement of frontman Gabriel McCaughry, who left the band earlier this year. Kevin McCaughey (SHAOLIN, THE LAST FELONY), who was also DESPISED ICON‘s session vocalist, has joined ranks.

The band has issued the following statement:
“We are really proud to welcome our really good friend Kevin McCaughey to the ION DISSONANCE family. Things are going really well so far with him on vocals, Kevin played a few shows with us already and his vocals fit perfectly with our music and what we were looking for. We would like to thank everyone who tried out for us and would like to wish them good luck in their projects. Otherwise, we are currently writing our 3rd album right now and it’s going really well so far, we have a lot of new stuff already and all we can say is that we feel it’s some of the best stuff we have ever written. We just announced our final tour dates for 2006 and after that we’ll finish tightening things up to record it next spring. More updates coming soon about the recording.”
