DECAPITATED Involved in Serious Yet Non-Fatal Tour Accident

DECAPITATED, who are currently on tour with GWAR and AMERICAN SHARKS, were involved a serious van accident this past Friday.  Thankfully, no one was killed.  Here is official word from the band:

DECAPITATED was involved in a serious van accident on Friday afternoon on their way to a show in House of Blues, New Orleans, LA. We are all ok (two persons were hospitalized and released after a few hours) and we will continue our tour with AMERICAN SHARKS and GWAR. This time we were lucky. was involved in a serious van accident on Friday afternoon on their way to a show in House of Blues, New Orleans, LA. Let’s hope this is the end of the band’s troubles…forever.

CANNABIS CORPSE – From Wisdom to Baked

Cannabis Corpse - From Wisdom to BakedIf you’re unfamiliar with the band, the most fatal mistake you could make is to not take them seriously.  Of course, the band embrace humor and parody but CANNABIS CORPSE are focused on making killer music.  With From Wisdom to Baked, the band have jumped to elite status.  Prime classic US death metal.

CANNABIS expand their sound from being a predominantly Chris Barnes-era CANNIBAL CORPSE clone to one that incorporates more influences from all the classic US death metal bands, such as DEATH and MORBID ANGEL.  Not only that but they explore the spaces for nuances within these established styles of death metal.  Thus, avoiding sounding like a compilation CD mash up.  CANNABIS CORPSE answer questions like, “How would CANNIBAL sound with good drumming?,” and “How would DEATH sound with gutteral vocals and more mosh-friendly parts?”

As with every CANNABIS release, fans can quiz themselves to figure out which album and song titles each song is derived from.   What other band provides the additional value of metal trivia with every album?

With endless hooks, killer playing, and no discernible weak points, From Wisdom to Baked ranks as a pure gem in an oversaturated market filled with mostly irrelevant metal.  Buy or die.  (Season of Mist)

LORDI – The Arockalypse

Dressed like GWAR, but equipped with massive balls-to-the-wall rock ‘n roll, Finland’s LORDI claim to bring those very “balls” back to rock. “Bringing Back the Balls to Rock,” off LORDI‘s latest album, The Arockalypse, makes that claim both lyrically and musically with big riffs, big beats, and a big chorus. Fortunately, rock has never actually lost its balls, but these monsters of rock certainly rock out as if rock has long been without said balls…all while keeping it fun and un-serious. In fact, it’s that very attitude that makes The Arockalypse an enjoyable affair. With cheeky songs like “Who’s Your Daddy?,” “Good to Be Bad,” and “Hard Rock Hallelujah,” you know you’re in for a fun ride. The Finns recall 70’s and 80’s hard rock (think KISS, Alice Cooper) with minimal amounts of cheese, but plenty of nostalgia. They even enlist some hard rock veterans (Dee Snider, Udo Dirkschneider, Bruce Kulick, and Jay Jay French) to join their monster mashing affair. The Arockalypse rocks…just don’t take LORDI too seriously. (The End Records)
