Preview MASTODON’s The Hunter Album in its Entirety; Official Release Party at On The Rox

All 50-plus minutes of MASTODON‘s forthcoming The Hunter album are now available for listening via the Hunter Visualizer on YouTube. The album drops September 27th via Warner Bros/Reprise.

A special (and free) album release party presented by will be taking place a day before the release at The Roxy in West Hollywood, CA. The event will include a live performance from IT’S CASUAL and special guest DJ, WARBRINGER, on the eve of the release of their Worlds Torn Asunder album. Schedule is as follows:

8PM – Doors
8:15PM – The Hunter is played in its entirety
9:15PM – IT’S CASUAL live performance
11:15PM – The Hunter is played in its entirety once again

IT’S CASUAL: Amoeba Music’s “Homegrown Artist of the Month” + Live Shows

Los Angeles’ IT’S CASUAL is Amobea Music‘s “Homegrown Artist of the Month” for August. The heavy noisemakers, who will also be featured in the LA Weekly this month, recently released the album, The New Los Angeles.

IT’S CASUAL have been confirmed for the FU MANCHU national fall tour kicking off October 25th and going through November 11th.

Before then, IT’S CASUAL will be making their regular local rounds of gigging including this Friday at The Viper Room in Hollywood with Nick Oliveri‘s MONDO GENERATOR, San Fransico’s all-girl TURBONEGRO cover band, TURBONEGRA, 16 and DISASTROID. Peep the flyer here:

The Viper Room’s New Monthly Metal Night Debuts Tomorrow

The Viper Room in Hollywood, who’ve already been bringing the metal to The Sunset Strip with a weekly metal night called The Dirty Lounge, will be home to a new monthly metal night, dubbed Club My War, that kicks off tomorrow night (May 12th). The format for the monthly event will be Doom, Hardcore, Drone, Experimental, Power Violence, Thrash, etc.

Opening night will feature headliners IT’S CASUAL (11:15pm-12am), who will be commemorating their new album, The New Los Angeles. Prior to their performance will be a special video of The New Los Angeles directed by world famous video director, Robert Schober (a.k.a. Roboshobo), who is known for his work on the latest videos from METALLICA, MASTODON and THE B-52’S.

Other bands performing include CHINGALERA (10:30pm-11pm), SNAKES ALIVE (9:45pm-10:15pm), GORT (9:00pm-9:30pm), and INTERNAL CORROSION (8:15pm-8:45pm ). Also, the following guests will be DJing between bands: Larry Herweg (PELICAN), Eddie Solis (Southern Lord), James Curtiss (Southern Lord), Jason Moore (Amoeba Hollywood), Pete Majors (Vacation Records), and Scott Florance (City Of Devils blog).

Doors open at 8pm and admission is $10.
