BEHEMOTH Posts First Single Off Evangelion

BEHEMOTH, who have set Evangelion as the title of the band’s ninth hell-breaking opus, have just posted a brand new track and the first single off the band’s August release on their official MySpace page. Head over to now to listen to the track “Ov Fire and the Void” off Evangelion and while you’re there be sure to check out video footage of the band during the recording process as well as upcoming tour dates.

Evangelion was recorded in the band’s hometown at Radio Gdansk studio with longtime sound engineer Malta, the Wieslawscy Brothers, and Daniel Bergstrand (drum engineering) in the producers’ chairs. Evangelion was mixed in Miloco Studios by Colin Richardson and will be unleashed in the US on August 11th via Metal Blade Records and in Europe on August 9th via Nuclear Blast.

In support of the band’s 9th full-length studio album Evangelion, BEHEMOTH will be touring on what is sure to be this summer’s largest and most bone crushing metal festival; The Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival with mighty SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON as co-headliners. BEHEMOTH will be conquering the Hot Topic stage alongside label mates CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DHALIA MURDER, JOB FOR A COWBOY and WHITECHAPEL, on over 25 dates this summer so make sure to catch the masters of blackened death metal live when they come to a city near you.

JOB FOR A COWBOY Complete New Album, Ruination

Arizona’s JOB FOR A COWBOY have completed work on their forthcoming new album, Ruination. The album is scheduled for a worldwide release in July through Metal Blade Records.

Ruination, the follow-up to their successful debut Genesis, was recorded at Audio Hammer Productions in Sanford, FL with producer Jason Suecof (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and will be mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom (AT THE GATES, OPETH). Ruination marks the JOB FOR A COWBOY recording debut of drumming prodigy Jon “The Charn” Rice, who has toured with the band since the release of Genesis and features ten tracks of their guttural brand of deathcore.

Frontman Jonny Davy commented on the new album: “JOB FOR A COWBOY has toured the world and faced a ton of challenges over the course of the last year and a half. All of the hard work that we’ve put in and everything that we’ve experienced is directly reflected in our new songs, which we know are our best yet. Stay tuned.”

Upon the release of Ruination, JOB FOR A COWBOY will hit the road as one of the featured acts of the 2009 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival alongside SLAYER, MARILYN MANSON and more. The 27-date North American march is slated to launch on July 10 in Sacramento, CA.  More info here:

BEHEMOTH Frontman Reflects on Successful Year, Future Plans

BEHEMOTH frontman, Nergal, issued an announcement reflecting upon the band’s successful year and upcoming plans:

“It feels great to finally be back in Poland especially after spending the last eight months intensely touring across almost every corner of the globe. I’m very proud and satisfied at the same time: our live activities have never been so splendorous and prestigious. Now we’re going to enjoy a well deserved two week vacation before we hit the shores of Australia and New Zealand.

“We just completed our first co-headlining tour in the U.S. The Radio Rebellion tour was nothing but massive success. It was a real honor to share the stage with one of the best extreme metal acts in the scene now. Canada’s BENEATH THE MASSACRE, France’s GOJIRA and America’s JOB FOR A COWBOY were not just awesome bands but also the nicest people to hang out and work with. It made this tour so much better. I’d never guessed this bill could pull so many people pretty much everywhere. It’s a great reward for all these crazy years of working our asses off and pushing so hard. I’m so happy we finally managed to bring bigger production, all the new stage gear, lights, backdrops so finally people could get a taste of what the definitive BEHEMOTH performance should look like. Seeing big smiles on those people’s faces every night they were leaving the venue assured me we did a good fuckin’ job. I’ve also noticed that a big part of the crowd coming to the shows have been younger. Seems like there’s whole new generation of people discovering extreme metal and it feels very refreshing. We wanna thank everyone who came down to the show. You made this tour one of the brightest moments of both, our career and life.

“This past year was probably the craziest year in my life. All the things would be happening at the same time: making of the record, all the technical and logistic problems, moving in to the new apartment, politicians trying to ban us in Poland and all the touring that started before the record was even finished. We’ve been working so fuckin’ hard, there was more stress and nerves involved that ever. But at the same time I can’t say we didn’t have fun. We did. Sometimes maybe even too much, ha ha…in the end of the day, it was all worth it.

“It’s also extremely satisfying to see The Apostasy outselling Demigod only a few months after its release. I’m still so fuckin’ stoked that people loved the record that was even more extreme, diverse and technical than anything we’ve done before. Seems like everyone (fans, media, critics) really took notice and appreciate all the giant work we invested. All I can say is that it only encourages us to work even harder in the future. We have a very demanding schedule for next year and I advice you to sit tight and wait for some very exciting news coming early next year. There are some major plans in the works to create a perfect set up for our future activities.

“There’s definitely going to be more touring next year. We’ll be doing second European leg with KATAKLYSM and we’ll visit all the markets we didn’t make last time. We are also coming back to U.S. for another big tour around March. We’ll be touring South America and possibly Japan (cross fingers!) in the spring. From there on we should take a long break, doing only off shows and occasional festivals. Next year we’re going to focus on the next DVD, EP and new album. We already have some sick ideas but its way to early to reveal any details yet. You just have to wait and be surprised!”

The band recently posted a video documenting their recent touring mayhem here:

Additionally, BEHEMOTH, recently completed a new video for the track “Prometherion” from The Apostasy, which was directed by Soren (ALL THAT REMAINS, UNEARTH).  Watch the clip here:

Deathcore villains, JOB FOR A COWBOY, have arrived from almost nowhere to sprinkle the metal world with a delightful full-length debut in Genesis. JOB FOR A COWBOY set out to destroy from the get-go and destroy they do. From the brootal vokills of Jonny Davy to the endless double-kick beat-down of Elliot Sellers (who has since been replaced by drummer Jon Rice), JOB FOR A COWBOY impress with destructive conviction and flawless execution. Jonny Davy‘s roaring voice recalls that of CREMATORIUM‘s Dan Dismal‘s–beefy and ferocious but not too guttural. Meanwhile, the guitar work of Ravi Bahdriraju and Bobby Thompson falls a little low in the mix (primarily due to Sellers‘ deliciously loud drumming). Fortunately, the abundance of accented palm-muting, diads, and jumpy fretwork cut through enough to flavor the songs with death metal flair. Still, you can’t escape the “core” with Davy‘s bark and the, at times, near-groovy but totally moshable passages. Genesis is however, nothing near cutting-edge. It is a one-dimensional album of in-your-face deathcore/death metal, save for the one comparatively slower track, “The Divine Falsehood.” But the Arizonian outfit still manage to breath fresh air into a genre that can be stubbornly stale. Let’s hope JOB FOR A COWBOY can take advantage of their step on the scene and continue to rock out with destruction in mind. (Metal Blade Records)

JOB FOR A COWBOY, BEHEMOTH to Co-Headline “Radio Rebellion” Tour

Glendale, AZ’s extreme metal unit JOB FOR A COWBOY and Polish death metal troupe BEHEMOTH will be co-headlining this year’s “Radio Rebellion” tour, presented by Hurley and Converse. The twenty-eight city North American trek will also feature highly regarded French band GOJIRA and Canadian technical death metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE.

Ozzfest breakthrough artists BEHEMOTH are extremely proud to be a part of the “Radio Rebellion” tour, which is the perfect follow up to their highly successful summer run. The tour affords the band the opportunity to perform a longer set in more intimate settings, ultimately providing fans with “the definitive BEHEMOTH experience”. This is also a chance for the band to perform an array of songs from their highly acclaimed new offering, The Apostasy, which debuted at #149 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

“We’ve toured U.S. ten times during last few years but we almost never had a chance to headline our own shows,” BEHEMOTH main man Nergal states. “These last few years have been about working our asses off in order to establish our name and build a solid foundation, and now it will finally pay off. It’s high time for us to come back to North America and show our fans what a BEHEMOTH set with full production can be. I love all the bands that are joining us as there is a lot of quality and variety on the bill. I’m thrilled to tour with GOJIRA and JOB FOR A COWBOY is phenomenal! Extremely talented band. I can’t think of a better company for us. We’re bringing all our lights, a full stage production, and will be delivering at least an hour long set. We’ll be playing old stuff as well as songs from The Apostasy. The Radio Rebellion tour is going to be massive! See you there my friends!”

On the topic of the tour, JOB FOR A COWBOY founding member Ravi Bhadriraju comments, “To be a part of a tour along side some of the best acts from around the world is awesome. BEHEMOTH, GOJIRA and BENEATH THE MASSACRE are all from different countries and are all amazing bands. This will be the heaviest tour of the fall! We’re excited and ready to hit the road yet again. All of you JOB FOR A COWBOY fans can expect a show that will be worth your while. Look out!”

In addition to Hurley and Converse, “Radio Rebellion” 2007 tour sponsors include Revolver Magazine, Smartpunk, Metal Blade Records, Ferret Music and Prosthetic Records. “Radio Rebellion” Co-Founder Stewart Teggart comments, “We are very excited to launch this year’s ‘Rebellion Tour‘. It will be ‘Radio Rebellion‘ in the truest sense as we’ve assembled four of the most extreme bands in heavy metal. Each band on the tour this year hail from a different country and all of them have their own unique way of delivering brutally heavy music. If you are a fan of Metal, this tour is not to be missed! Radio Rebellion will be the microphone for the youth by delivering what the fans want to see and hear which is why sponsors with a similar frame of mind have been chosen to help support the tour.”

DESPISED ICON Recording Update; Tour with JOB FOR A COWBOY

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON are currently in the midst of recording their highly anticipated sophomore Century Media release with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand. The new effort will be mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap starting on Feb. 10th and is currently scheduled for a May release. The group will also kick off a three-week Canadian/U.S. tour as direct support to JOB FOR A COWBOY on Feb. 28th before heading to Europe in March with UNEARTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY and DAATH.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: “We’ve been in the studio for about two weeks now. The drums were recorded with a click track/metronome and the result is tight as fuck. Some of the parts on this record are faster then anything we’ve done in the past. Alex‘s drumkit sounds amazing. Expect more blastbeats and gravity blasts! We’ve drilled holes in our heads and came up with loads of inventive breakdowns for you mosh enthusiasts. I know this is the type of stuff that all bands say, but trust me, it’s true and you won’t be disappointed.

“The guitars are about halfway done, and we can’t wait to see how killer things will sound once Andy Sneap starts mixing. He made some of the best sounding recordings out there, so we’re definitely stoked to be working with him. Don Clark from Invisible Creature is currently working on our album layout. He handled the art direction on NORMA JEAN‘s last two albums, so you know it’s going to look sick. We’ve worked twice as hard on this record and are very pleased with how it’s coming along.

“Also, a thanks goes out to all of those who have tried out/shown interest for the guitarist spot. We’ve just picked the top three candidates and will invite them over to Montreal to jam and hang out with us as soon as we come back from the studio. Future plans include the shooting of our new video with DBM Films in February, with a Canadian/U.S. and European tour in March/April. We’re stoked to finally tour Europe and can’t wait to play in our country again!”
