IMMOLATION Kick Off North American Tour with SUFFOCATION; New Video Online

Legendary death metal titans IMMOLATION kick off a massive a month-long North American tour this week with SUFFOCATION and SKINLESS, which marks their first stateside trek in three years. Returning with the same lineup as their previous release, Harnessing Ruin, the group finds itself uncharacteristically stable, allowing for chemistry not present in their formative years. Founding members Ross Dolan (vocals/bass) and Robert Vigna (guitar) join Bill Taylor (guitar) and Steve Shalaty (drums) to form the group’s most consistently punishing lineup yet.

Robert Vigna (guitars) further describes his excitement over the upcoming tour: “We are really looking forward to this SUFFOCATION tour. We haven’t been out in the states for a while now and we can’t wait! I think the lineup is really strong and the fact that it’s composed off all NY bands is something special that the kids have been waiting for. All the bands have their own style, so it’s going to be a great extreme show!

“We are going to try and fit in as much classic material, as well as new stuff into our set. With each album it gets harder and harder to get a set list together, but I think we chose some really good tunes for the tour. We have enough different tracks down to alternate from night to night, which is what we plan to do, so things will be a little different each show. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there and prepare for one intense night of extreme metal.”

Improving upon the foundation of technical, neck-snapping death metal they helped build beginning in the late 1980s, IMMOLATION unleashes the seventh chapter in their legendary career, Shadows in the Light. The stunning new effort was recorded at Millbrook Sound Studios with producer Paul Orofino and is now available. The video for the track, “World Agony,” was recently posted on their official MySpace page. Click the link below to check it out: www.myspace.com/immolationny

Robert Vigna (guitars) further describes the new album: “It’s aggressive, emotional and haunting. The disc delivers all of IMMOLATION‘s attributes, as it’s catchy as hell, very direct and to the point. The album devastates on all levels, from blasting madness and militant charges to sorrow-filled doom and depression. It is a very complete record with soulful solos, thunderous raging drums and vocals that lash right out at you!”

SUFFOCATION – Suffocation

SUFFOCATION have been known as one of metal’s most devastating live acts, and when they returned after several years in hibernation the band had no problem delivering in the live dept. Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for the somewhat muddy production found on their comeback album, Souls to Deny. But with the release of their self-titled new album, the band is back with a vengeance, unleashing everything that Souls to Deny should have. “Abomination Reborn,” “Redemption,” and “Bind Torture Kill” start the album with a three-punch combination that floors the listener with quick reminder of why the band continues to reign as the godfathers of death metal. One listen to any of the above mentioned tracks and it becomes apparent that the production has improved ten-fold since the band’s previous album. Everything from the eerie clean guitar passages that set up the fierce pounding to follow, the complex unconventional lead guitar solos courtesy of guitarists Terrance Hobbs and Guy Marchais to the thundering bass lines of Derek Boyer – the mix is powerful and crystal clear giving the listener a better opportunity to absorb the crushing yet involved material found on this release. But it’s drummer Mike Smith who benefits the most as the drums on Suffocation are more prominent than on the preceding album, giving each cymbal, snare hit, double-bass flurry and “Smith blast” it’s own distinct voice. Of course who can forget the fury of vocalist Frank Mullen whose seething rage bursts through the speakers with power and clarity? So even though Suffocation features what may be the band’s first love song, “Entrails of You,” fear not as the band isn’t going soft by a long shot with lyrics such as “Submerge myself in your blood and wear your flesh.” Easily one of the most punishing albums of the year, SUFFOCATION still serves as the benchmark for death metal, with an album sure to send their countless imitators back to the drawing board to figure out what went wrong and why they cannot match the brutality and precision that is SUFFOCATION. SUFFOCATION Suffer Set Backs For The Machines at War Tour

Due to problems in acquiring proper transportation for SUFFOCATION‘s upcoming trek with FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, and DECAPITATED as part of The Machines at War Tour, the band has been forced to fly to California without their equipment and merchandise for the start of the tour. Here’s word directly from the band’s website:

SUFFOCATION‘s 7 week tour with FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, and DECAPITATED set to start on the 22nd of October has been jeopardized due to Fraudulent Bus companies. The story goes like this in this exact order of circumstances. 4 months ago we Locked in tour bus arrangements with ROCKSTAR TOURBUS LEASING to drive SUFFOCATION and HYPOCRISY on the US tour. 3 days before the tour was to begin, the bus company pulled out leaving us to scramble with no replacement. In a panic we called multiple bus companies to save the day, one of which was a company called CONCERT COACH & GEAR owned by GARY KOPPELMAN out of Philadelphia. Because it was last minute we were instructed to pay half of the cost upfront which we did, close to $20,000. The bus never showed up, GARY KOPPELMAN and CONCERT COACH never contacted us back, and all numbers leading to him now get us no where. We’ve had no contact since the bank wire was sent. So far the first 3 shows in Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado have been cancelled. We are now working on flying to California with just the clothes on our backs to hopefully be able to start the tour as planned w/ FEAR FACTORY and the gang. Needless to say without our equipment, Merchandise and transportation we will be scrambling at best. If anyone has ever dealt with GARY KOPPELMAN and CONCERT COACH & GEAR, Feel free to contact us at [email protected] so we can build a case and BRING THE PAIN to this fool. Thanks, take care and have a better day than we’ve had.”
