Free JUDAS PRIEST Tickets with Album Purchase

While supplies last, when you purchase any configuration of the initial pressing of JUDAS PRIEST’s double disc concept album, Nostradamus (release date – June 17th), specially marked CD’s will contain an insert with a exclusive code inside the CD package for one free lawn ticket to see JUDAS PRIEST on selected dates of the Metal Masters Tour this summer. Visit www.judaspriest.com for details on this special offer. This seemingly too-good-to-be-true offer will be good while supplies last. Also, this offer will not pertain to all the dates of the Metal Masters Tour (see below for complete list of dates that the offer is good for).

The Metal Masters Tour will undoubtedly be the top metal concert attraction of the summer. The album takes you on a nearly two-hour journey. It is without a doubt best looked at as a complete work as all true concept albums are. You can really see it living out on a stage. It sounds like PRIEST have truly created something special and once again lived up to their rightful billing as ‘Metal Gods’.”

As to why they chose to make a concept album about Nostradamus, Glenn Tipton explains: “We didn’t – he chose us. We feel it was meant to be!”

Metal Legends JUDAS PRIEST, HEAVEN AND HELL, MOTORHEAD, and TESTAMENT Unite for Metal Masters Tour

After weeks of speculation, Live Nation has put together a killer package that is bound to go down as the heavy metal event of 2008 – JUDAS PRIEST, HEAVEN AND HELL, MOTORHEAD and TESTAMENT will be touring together for the first time.

Dubbed “The Metal Masters Tour,” the fifteen-date U.S. trek kicks off August 6th at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey. Tickets go on sale to the public beginning this weekend at www.livenation.com. JUDAS PRIEST will be supporting their epic concept album, Nostradamus, arriving June 17th via Epic Records, which tells the tale of the renowned 16th century prophet. A few tracks from Nostradamus will make their in-concert debut on “The Metal Masters Tour,” but the majority of PRIEST’s set list will include some of metal’s all-time classics, as well as fan favorites that span the quintet’s entire career. Without a doubt, this will be one of PRIEST’s most powerful sets ever.

HEAVEN AND HELL will be supporting the release of The Rules Of Hell, a five-CD boxed set available July 22nd from Rhino Records, which features re-mastered versions of all four Dio-era BLACK SABBATH albums (Heaven And Hell, Mob Rules, Live Evil and Dehumanizer) in a deluxe package with new liner notes.

Perennial road rats MOTORHEAD will be offering a blistering barnstormer of a set spanning more than three decades of molar-rattling biker metal. A new studio album – the 20th of their storied career – is currently being recorded at their old pal Dave Grohl’s studio with an August release date targeted. Frontman Lemmy, named by the U.K.’s Guardian newspaper as “the nation’s greatest living Englishman,” blairs out, “Here it comes everybody, the test of your Metalness in 2008 and the years to come! Come one come all and be abused!”

Rounding out the line-up will be legendary thrash metal titans TESTAMENT, whose new album, The Formation of Damnation, (April 29th) displays TESTAMENT as the quintessential modern heavy metal band, whose experience and accumulated skill allows them to attack with reserves of anger, energy and finesse that make them more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck Billy says, “Uniting these bands is the heavy metal event of generations. We are so proud to be a part of it.”

“As ever, we look forward to screaming out loud with our metal maniac fans when we hit the road,” enthuses PRIEST singer, Rob Halford. “Thank you once again for your devotion and support. The PRIEST is back!”

This tour will be limited to fifteen very special engagements, and Citi cardmembers will have pre-sale access to tickets through Citi’s Private Pass® Program, available to all Citi cardmembers at www.privatepass.citi.com.

Metal maniacs seeking the ultimate concert experience can access unique VIP ticket and fan experience packages that offer premium seats, meet & greets, pre-concert parties and more brought to you by the band’s official websites,
www.judaspriest.com and www.heavenandhelllive.com.

TESTAMENT – The Gathering (reissue)

As the world waits in anticipation of the next assault from these Bay Area thrash kings, the folks at Prosthetic have made their previous album, originally released almost ten years ago, available again. To the uninitiated, The Gathering saw Chuck Billy and Eric Petersen retain the death metal excursions they explored on Demonic, but also saw them bring back the catchy melodic elements of Practice What You Preach and The New Order back in to the fold. Joining the duo for this album was an all-star cast of thrash metal’s finest: Dave Lombardo of SLAYER, Steve DiGiorgio of SADUS and James Murphy (ex-AGENT STEEL, OBITUARY, DEATH) returned after skipping the Demonic album as well. In what could possibly be TESTAMENT‘s most well-rounded album, The Gathering unleashed everything from the fast and furious “D.N.R.,” “Legions of the Damned,” and “Fall of Sipledome” (all fueled by Lombardo‘s explosive drumming), to more straight forward anthems such as “Down for Life” and “True Believer.” Groove heavy shuffles such as “3 Days of Darkness” and “Careful What You Wish For” co-existed fluidly with the Eastern-influenced mystery of “Eyes of Wrath” all of which displayed a wide range of weapons in the TESTAMENT arsenal, helping transform The Gathering in to the classic it is today. As far as reissues go, fans receive the bare minimum here, with a few liner notes that read more like a bio. But on the plus side, there’s at least a bonus track in the form of “Hammer of the Gods.” Unfortunately, more of an afterthought than an actual song, the instrumental is laid back and low-key with the band members keeping things straight-forward and simple, and although not a detriment at all to the album, it does little to elevate the material at hand. But it’s better nothing. Without listing every song on The Gathering the album, it stands as one of their finest hours, and is vital to any metal collection. So if you missed it the first time around, or have been living in a cave, or are new to the world of metal, pick up a copy ASAP! (Prosthetic Records)

TESTAMENT – Demonic (reissue)

It’s hard to believe that TESTAMENT‘s Demonic is over a decade old, but after a short spell of being out of print, the crew at Prosthetic has wisely chosen to keep the album alive and available for the masses. Originally planned as a death metal side project called “DOG FACED GODS” based on a track from the band’s previous album Low, Demonic was nonetheless released under the TESTAMENT name, assembled by mainmen Chuck Billy and Eric Petersen following the departure of much of the band’s lineup from Low. “Demonic Refusal” kicks things off with an atom bomb of heaviness with Chuck‘s deep growling delivery offering a new menace to his vocals. It unleashes a band light years away from the safer, more melodic textures found on The Ritual. After a strong opening, the band keeps the momentum rolling with the driving punch of “The Burning Times” and “Together as One” driven by Eric Petersen‘s extra crunchy riffs complimented nicely by guest drummer Gene Hoglan‘s hammering beats. “John Doe” on the other hand, sees the band shift comfortably in to a half-time shuffle, grooving like no tomorrow while still maintaining its thunderous delivery. This continues throughout the album well in to the final closing track, “Nostrovia.” Overall, Demonic can be seen as somewhat of an oddity in the TESTAMENT catalog, with little of the melody and hooks found on earlier classics such as The New Order and Practice What You Preach. On the other hand, Demonic was TESTAMENT‘s heaviest, bludgeoning record to date, trading off melody for sheer force. It replaced shredding guitar solos with thick, heavy grooves creating a more rhythm based album. Over ten years later, Demonic still remains an audio force and holds up considerably well against most of what today’s metal has to offer. The folks at Prosthetic must have realized this as only the album cover was changed (inexplicably the original with nails driven into the skull is harsher than the new cover), and there are no bonus tracks or enhancements. As such, fans who own the original will have little reason to purchase this reissue, but for those who missed out the first time, now is the time to pick up this must own disc. (Prosthetic Records)

The Formation of Damnation features the classic lineup of Chuck Billy on vocals, Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick on guitar, and Greg Christian on bass…PLUS the venerable Paul Bostaph (ex-SLAYER, FORBIDDEN) on drums. The band called on Andy Sneap who has been waiting nine years to engineer and mix the forthcoming album.

TESTAMENT has also re-issued two classic albums, 1997’s Demonic and 1999’s The Gathering through Prosthetic Records. Both are available now. Prosthetic will also be re-issuing 2001’s First Strike Still Deadly in March with new art.

Prosthetic Records to Reissue Two TESTAMENT Albums

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce reissues from Bay Area metal legends, TESTAMENT. Both to feature new liner notes, 1997’s Demonic was remastered and 1999’s The Gathering will include the previously only available in Japan, “Hammer Of The Gods.” Both will see a worldwide release through the label on Jan. 8, 2008. Previously released through Spitfire Records and currently out of print, both records are a welcome addition to the Prosthetic Records catalog.

Paul Bostaph Replaces Nick Barker as TESTAMENT Drummer

Paul Bostaph (ex-FORBIDDEN/SLAYER/EXODUS) will join the ranks alongside originating classic thrash legends Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick on lead guitar, Eric Peterson on rhythm guitar and Greg Christian on bass.

Unfortunately Nick Barker will not be recording with TESTAMENT on this new album, due to Homeland Security and International Work Visa issues. Rather than delaying this long awaited return of TESTAMENT, the band has chosen to recruit Paul Bostaph, long time friend and member, to record on the much anticipated album, which is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2008 release via Nuclear Blast.
