Louisville, Kentucky’s COLISEUM have resigned to Deathwish Inc. and will have their self-titled debut reissued August 19, 2014. Coliseum Deluxe Reissue will include their self titled debut album (out of print since 2006) paired with eight essential bonus tracks from their primordial years. Originally recorded by Jason Loewenstein of SEBADOH and now fully remixed by Joel Grind of TOXIC HOLOCAUST, the release also features new deluxe packaging, insightful liner notes, and cover artwork by John Baizley of BARONESS.
Once again, another fruitful year in extreme music draws to a close. We saw some long awaited comebacks by legends, three quarters of the original SABBATH line up, VOIVOD and CARCASS. The godfathers of U.S. death metal had a healthy year with strong releases by SUFFOCATION, DEICIDE, and IMMOLATION. We also saw young superstars, GHOST B.C. and KVELERTAK, release good sophomore albums. Perhaps the most polarizing and criticized album is SATYRICON‘s self-titled album, which was roasted by the majority of the media and fans.
Among the mountains of releases, there is one album that we’ll gush about again and again, and that’s CARCASS‘ comeback album, Surgical Steel. There are always good and interesting albums coming out all the time, and then there are the untouchable albums that only the legendary bands could create. Surgical Steel scorches everything in its path and clearly shows that in the pantheon of active bands, they are at the top.
The classic Forward Into Battle line up of the ENGLISH DOGS will headline a 2012 North American with support by THE CASUALTIES, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, and HAVOK.
Graham “Gizz” Butt comments, “In 1984 to 1986 Me , Pinch and Adie were writing and recording some of the most important and influential songs of our lives and our Forward into Battlealbum was the peak of our success. The American fans completely got it . CROSSOVER HAD ARRIVED !! Our 1985 debut USA tour exploded with sell-out shows and sights we’d never seen before, queues half a mile down the street , mosh pits and circle pits all night long. We have finally reunited to achieve a dream that has been going on for over 25 years. To realize the entire FORWARD INTO BATTLE album , along with To The Ends Of The Earth EP, another ambitious milestone, live in all their glories, to North America.”
Founding ENGLISH DOGS member, Pinch, added: “We were young and hungry for a musical challenge. The hardcore punk scene had become stagnant and new territories needed exploring.Adding Gizz to the band let us off the leash and we were able to wander down any musical alley we chose. We were 20 years old when we recorded F.I.B., playing way beyond our abilities as musicians and lacking the studio technology to capture it. Now, 25 years later, we will finally be able to do this album justice, sonically. Live and in your face, the genre we helped to create is going once more, Forward into Battle.”

If you love classic 80’s metal, hardcore, and punk, then by default you can find enjoyment in Portland’s TOXIC HOLOCAUST. So many of the elements of these genres are once again embodied in the band’s latest, Conjure and Command.
Speed, d-beats, open E string eighth notes, punk songwriting approach, the Jeff Walker meets Chronos vocals, meaty riffs and aggression are packed into this record. The band often capture those classic, anthemic moments all over Conjure and Command. Additionally, almost every song is perfect for the live environment.
Basically, the album wins on style points though overall it may not necessarily leave a strong lasting impression. But there are parts and full songs where TOXIC HOLOCAUST truly hit their stride such as “Judgment Awaits You,” “Agony of the Damned,” and “In the Depths (of Your Mind).”
If you’re looking for a quick fix, few bands can satisfy in as many ways as TOXIC HOLOCAUST. (Relapse Records)
Norway’s SATYRICON have announced a 24-city headlining tour of North America which kicks off September 25th in Baltimore, MD. Support will come from BLEEDING THROUGH, CHTHONIC, and TOXIC HOLOCAUST (through 10/10).
SATYRICON frontman, Satyr, commented on the tour: “Finally…The way everyone greeted us in the states and Canada during our run in January, February and March, it was obvious that we needed to come back as soon as possible. The reception we got every night, all the conversations we had after the shows with everyone who had been waiting for us to make it over…it was given that it was never a question of if, just when. For the most part we are focusing on coming back to the same cities as we visited in the winter, so that you can see the full SATYRICON show that you got a taste of a few months back. There are also some cities in there where we will be visiting for the first time.”

If there’s one band’s success that has forced labels scrambling to sign retro-thrash bands, it’s Richmond, Virginia’s MUNICIPAL WASTE. Taking the best of the worlds of classic punk, hardcore, and thrash, the band add their own attitude and style to create some of the best crossover music in decades. The WASTE‘s new album, The Art of Partying, does just that while continuing where 2005’s excellent Hazardous Mutation left off but with added thrashing fury. APESHIT hung out with vocalist, Tony Foresta and drumgod Dave Witte during one of the stops on their recent tour with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. What we learned was that despite their comedy-induced image, MUNICIPAL WASTE are dead serious about their music.
Crossover thrashers MUNICIPAL WASTE will begin their east coast tour today in Kingston, Pennsylvania. The band will be supported by SKELETON WITCH and TOXIC HOLOCAUST.
The band were featured on Daniel P Carter’s Radio One Rock Show this past Monday. In case you missed the show live, you can still listen to it online and hear bassist LandPhil revealing his version of the true art of having a good time and exclusive tips for ultimate partying.
