January 8, 2019 — What a glorious year in metal we just experienced. After the sheer amount of quality albums that were released in 2018, there is no question that the genre is as healthy and full of life as ever.
January 1, 2013 — As another great year for heavy music comes to a close, APESHIT takes a look back at our favorite pieces of music of 2012. This year had some great comebacks in CRYPTOPSY and STRIFE.
October 15, 2012 — If you were pleased with last year’s three song EP, Iron Dawn, then Serpent Sermon will put a huge smile on your face. MARDUK’s twelfth record, Serpent Sermon, is indisputable evidence that the snarling upper lip of the band is as ferocious as ever.

January 11, 2012 — DEATH WOLF (formerly THE DEVIL’S WHOREHOUSE), featuring MARDUK guitarist Morgan Hakansson, has posted the video for “Ironwood” online. The band originally started out as Morgan’s tribute to the MISFITS and SAMHAIN.
December 23, 2011 — 2011 was a very productive and enjoyable year for extreme music, perhaps the best in years. Thus, it was not an easy task choosing what we enjoyed best since they were just so many.
May 29, 2011 — Before going into the studio to record a full length album, MARDUK has decided to tease the world with a short EP, and they offer an excellent glimpse of what’s to come.
August 9, 2010 — After taking a breather in their respective other bands, namely THE HAUNTED, OPETH, and ARCH ENEMY, the members of WITCHERY offer Witchkrieg, the first album with vocalist Legion (ex-MARDUK) on board.
December 28, 2009 — It’s that time where we take a look back on the year as 2009 comes to a close. So we, the APESHIT goons, asked ourselves, what albums moved us, kicked our asses, and reminded us of why we love metal (and music)?
November 24, 2009 — As we tweeted a couple weeks ago, the Los Angeles area U.S. Plague Tour with MARDUK, NACHTMYSTIUM, BLACK ANVIL, MANTIC RITUAL, and MERRIMACK has been moved from the Key Club in West Hollywood to Salon Royal (Royal Hall) in downtown.
October 24, 2009 — Following three very special U.S. appearances this summer in Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York (effectively breaking their streak of visa issues), Swedish black metal monsters MARDUK will return for a full headlining North American tour this November.
July 18, 2009 — MARDUK’s forthcoming new album, entitled Wormwood, is being finalized, and while a release date is not yet set, the band have revealed the album cover (to the right).
June 22, 2009 — Sweden’s MARDUK have announced a few U.S. shows following their last minute withdrawal from the Blackenedfest with MAYHEM due to visa issues. These makeup dates will feature support from WITHERED and BLACK ANVIL.
May 29, 2009 — Blackenedfest, a North American tour featuring MAYHEM, MARDUK, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, and WITHERED has been partially marred by MARDUK’s unexplained absence from the tour. The tour, which kicked off on May 21st, has carried on without MARDUK’s participation.
April 10, 2009 — Poland’s VADER have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band issued the following statement on the signing: “We are very glad that after so many years VADER finally joined one of the biggest metal labels in the world.
February 11, 2009 — Blackenedfest has been announced for North America and will feature MAYHEM, MARDUK, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, and WITHERED. The tour kicks off May 21st in New York.
January 2, 2008 — It’s been a grossly successful 2007 for APESHIT, and though we find it hard pressed to make that same general claim for metal in 2007, a handful of albums did manage to leave a strong impression on us.
May 25, 2007 — Coming off one of their best albums in Plague Angel, MARDUK’s Rom 5:12 takes the listener on a more diverse and atmospheric album. While Plague Angel could be generally characterized as one of the band’s fastest and most scorching releases, Rom(ans) 5:12 contains a more prominent blend of slower, mid-tempo songs mixed in with the blasting ones.
